The island Maio of Cabo Verde, Africa is quiet and unassuming. Very clean waterfront that stretches forever and is never crowded. When you encounter people, they greet you with a nod and a hello, even if you are passing by in a tourist van.
The night we went looking for something to eat, we noticed a pickup truck hauling a casket. The following morning, I nearly got swept up in the procession to the transitioned’s home. I had to respectfully turn my smartphone off. I could hear the wailing and weeping as I maneuvered out of the line of mourners.
The one restaurant that stood out was simply called; Martin’s. The service was 5-star excellent and all of the food looked very good. We had delicious salad and pizza. As they brought out food for other guests, all of the folks would ooh and ahh at the plates. Martin’s, the beach, the Atlantic Ocean and the Africa Continent over our shoulders; What!?!
Tell Me Something Good!
I could almost live in Maio for its calmness. There’s really nothing there other than the pristine beachfronts, chickens, and burros (yeah, we saw one just sauntering down the main drag).
I could say that’s there’s nothing to write home about. I’ll just fill in the rest of our weekend in Maio with these left-over photographs. Enjoy. I love you all!

Boa tarde Jeanne,
Yes, I hear you!
There's nothing to hate!
I did noticed that people's doors were open.
The people we met had internet and large screen TVs as did their neighbors. I peeked in a few homes.
Yeah, what's not to love?
